Community Camp Kenya was established in partnership with a rural African community and we continue to fund ongoing projects and sustainable development everywhere we operate. You can expect to spend your stay working on a wide range of initiatives; for example at the rural Primary Schools your day to day work may range from classroom refurbishment and building desks to teaching, sports and re-plantation projects. Our bond with the local people is a strong one and we hope that yours will be too as you work alongside them and become a valued part of their community. Wildlife Mwaluganje: Our main wildlife project is based at The Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. Mwaluganje is one of the most beautiful locations and it has the densest population of elephants per square mile for anywhere worldwide. You will typically spend 4-5 days at the sanctuary and the focus is to develop wildlife initiatives, which benefit the local communities and in turn the elephants. One of our most successful projects is the production of the infamous ‘elephant dung’ paper. This paper is made by our volunteers and sold to bring money the area, thus creating a positive to the presence of the elephants. Primate Conservation: Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in conservation and research, or simply have a passion for wildlife, this course offers an informative and entertaining insight into ways of conserving these amazing animals. This course is run in partnership with The Colobus Trust and WWF and includes theory and practical conservation techniques. Marine Conservation:The coastal ecosystem of Kenya is rich in biological resources and is listed as one of the top 25 Global Biodiversity Hotspots - harboring more species of plant and animal life than anywhere else on Earth. No visit to Africa is truly complete without one. A 3 day safari is included in your stay and you will drive out every day with a guide in specialist vehicles for game viewing drives, it's rough, it's dusty and it's everything you could want from a real Safari! You will look out for all big game and with the Big Five regularly spotted; you have good odds for some great sightings.
Ocean We work in partnership with Southern Cross Scuba and Water Sports. Whether it’s your first time diving or you want to gain a higher qualification, we will find you a PADI diving course that suits. Mountain Mount Kenya: As the highest mountain in Kenya at 4985 metres, this is an amazing 5 day trek where you will walk through some of the most stunning scenery Kenya has to offer culminating in a night ascent of the summit, ready to watch the African sunrise. Our success rate of getting you to the top is over 90% and the personal feeling of achievement is extraordinary. Kilimanjaro:Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing volcano in the world and the tallest mountain in Africa . At an altitude of 5895 metres it presents a formidable challenge. We take our time and as such over 95% of our climbers reach the top. Our trek lasts for 7 days and follows the stunning Machame Route to the summit, Uhuru Peak If you choose Kilimanjaro as your adventure package you will not be disappointed as you sit on the highest point in Africa watching the sunrise.
