Our placement at Almora is in a stunning location in a verdant mountain valley deep in the Himalayas, and is one of the most beautiful places in India. It was the first British hill station in 1815. Uttaranchal is a newly-formed state in India, and houses some of the largest peaks of the Indian Himalayas and some of the most holy sites for Hindus. You will live amongst the local Almora community and help by setting up a luxury camp for visiting tourists whilst completing local community and conservation projects. Helping who?- Almora village community Helping how? Leap 1: Eco-lodge - Escort guests on mountain treks and cultural excursions. - Carry out tourism impact studies with the local communities. Leap 2: Community - Help families develop fresh water supplies and irrigation systems. - Help communities understand the importance of hygiene. - Build and develop community medical facilities. Leap 3: Conservation - Implement litter and deforestation programmes to protect the beautiful Himalayan valleys. - Study and protect the local culture and customs for future generations.
