Diving in Egypt

Ever since Jacques Cousteau explored its waters four decades ago, Egypt’s Red Sea has been attracting divers - and knocking their socks off. With tropical sun, warm water, beautiful corals, colourful fish and crystal visibility, it’s a dreamy diving location.

There are over 1,000 species of invertebrates and around 200 recorded coral types to be found in the Red Sea. Moreover, it boasts over a thousand species of fish: more species than any other proportional body of water.

The Red Sea even has its own ‘big five’: whale-sharks (the world’s biggest fish), hammerheads (in schools of up to 40), dolphins, manta rays (whose wing-span can reach seven metres) and rare turtles.

The vibrant coral reefs are one of the main attractions. Almost 2,000 km in length, they lie some way out to sea, parallel to the shoreline, and form underwater islands which rise to within a few feet of the water’s surface.

There are some fascinating wrecks, too, including the world famous SS Thistlegorm which sank in 1941, carrying a cargo of motorbikes, jeeps, trucks, rifles and welly boots, all destined for the British army in Alexadria, which you can see during your dive.

The Red Sea is Europe’s closest tropical sea and is revered the world over as a top dive destination. Stretching over 2,350 kilometres, at the very end of the Great Rift Valley that begins in Southern Africa, the fringing reefs of this historical region hold 400 species of coral and a 20% endemic fish population.

Why not turn your dreams into reality -learning to dive has never been easier and more accessible to so many. The Red Sea is the ideal place to learn - only five hours from the UK you can find some of the most vibrant and pristine reefs in the world, with year round crystal clear, warm waters, and of course, plenty of sunshine.

We can offer a variety of courses tailored to suit your own individual needs. The PADI Open Water course earns you a certification that is recognised worldwide and gives you the freedom to dive with a buddy, independent of a professional to a depth of 18m. You can choose whether to take the five day intensive course, or make the most of the diving opportunities by completing part of the study before you go.
