This placement would suit... Someone who loves kids and is keen to work hard to earn a wage whilst enjoying one of the Canadian Rockies’ top ski resorts. Oyster will arrange for you to work at ‘Whistler Kids’, the Whistler resort’s crèche service. It’s a great job, playing outdoors and indoors with children while their parents ski. There are opportunities to take them for basic ski lessons too – the crèche can arrange for you to take level 1 ski qualification if you don’t have it already. Due to the nature of the work, you’ll need to have experience looking after children and have undertaken undergo appropriate police checks.Rates of pay vary but should average about C$9 an hour (£4.50 approx) before tips. Where will I live? You will live in apartment-style accommodation, usually close to the ski lifts. How can I spend my free time? Where do we start? If you’re into skiing, cross country skiing, boarding, ice-skating you won’t be disappointed. And if winter sports are not your thing you’ll enjoy the social life in these busy resorts. You’ll meet plenty of like-minded people among the Oyster group and others at the resort. Just make sure that you don’t forget to work hard too! Shortly before you leave we’ll hold a briefing day where you’ll meet fellow travellers and get thorough preparation to help you with working and living in Canada. Once in Canada you’ll be looked after by our local representative. She will meet you at the airport, arrange transportation to your hotel and give you plenty of useful information to help you settle in quickly. She will host monthly ‘meet ups’ in town and act as a knowledgeable and supportive friend whenever you need it. She will also keep us updated on your health, welfare and progress.
